What is Cannabis?
Cannabis is an anti-inflammatory that consists of antioxidant and anti-aging properties. Molecules in cannabis which are THC- Tetrahydrocannabinol and CBD- Cannabidiol reacts with the endocannabinoid system which comprises of multiple cannabinoid receptors (large portions of this are found on the skin). This reaction creates a skin-healing benefit, which is why it is not surprising that Cannabis possess skin- healing benefits.
What is CBD?
CBD- cannabidiol is the most prominent naturally-occurring cannabinoid found in the cannabis plant, it constitutes up to 40% of the plant. It is one of the over 60 different compounds in the cannabis. CBD is anti-psychotic, neuroprotective, anxiolytic, anti- depressant and other effects. It also has a lot of significant medical benefits; it is also the reason for a different perspective on marijuana as a relevant instrument in healthcare and skincare.
What Is The Relevance of CBD In Skincare?
Up until recently, the THC was the most well-known compound in the cannabis; it is also the most active ingredient in marijuana. It wasn’t until early 2010 that medical researchers began to see the effect and usefulness of CBD in the world of health. Although this compound has proved to be very effective in different areas, we want to talk about its relevance in “Skincare.”
When we speak skincare, the first thing that should come to mind is “Topical”. Numerous researches have proved CBD to lead the revolution in the skincare world. Several skincare products have been made from CBD. In September 2015, Casey Scalf published a journal that proved the effectiveness of CBD in curing Contact Dermatitis. Other studies have also shown the potentials of CBD in treating Psoriasis and success of CBD in treating Acne and Eczema.
Now let us take a look at some of the benefits of CBD skincare products on our skin and hair;
Perfect Skin Condition: The presence of CBD in any skincare product holds the promise in the treatment of different severe skin conditions. Research has shown that CBD can control cell proliferation and differentiation.
Treatment of Acne: Although acne has a natural cause, it can also be induced by external causes. CBD can regulate the output of oils both in the skin and hair, and can also specifically inhibit the production of lipid in skin cells, thereby making CBD an active acne preventative.
Anti-Aging Spell: As an antioxidant, CBD is more effective than Vitamin A, E, C and Omega 3(present in Hemp oil) put together. This makes CBD hemp oil a better source for antioxidant; which protects the skin from smoke and UV ray. Thereby keeping the skin smooth and ever-young.
Adequate Skin Nutrition: CBD oil comprises of essential nutrients which the skin and hair need to maintain the skin healthy and maintain peak functionality.
As numerous studies and research on the relevance and importance of CBD in skincare continue to surface. It is no doubt that a new revolutionary skincare market may yet begin to develop. With this, we can say that CBD is the new wave in proper skincare.
